Help Will in Scouting: Popcorn YUM!

Popcorn. You eat it while you play World of Warcraft (WOW), watch Netflix movies, update FaceBook and Twitter, code HTML, rock out to The Beatles Rock Band on your PS3 & 360, and just watching The Colbert Report and John Stewart. Why not help a Scout with your purchase through Oct. 25? William and Pack 218 in Apex, NC needs you. (Remember, Kevin Rose was a Scout!)

Greetings! As you may know, William started his Scouting journey last year as a Tiger Scout.

As his Den Leader, I enjoyed working with him and eight other young boys and their parents. Together we learned the values of Scouting and took on our first responsibilities to each other and our local community. We helped the NC Food Back box up more than a ton of food for local pantries, watched the WakeMed rescue helicopter land at a monthly Pack meeting, went camping on three occasions, toured a local NBC TV station, and so much more.

As we begin Will's Wolf year in Cub Scouts, I'm reaching out again with an invitation to participate in his Scouting adventures.

Times are tough, and we're being asked to shoulder a little more responsibility as our annual, once-a-year POPCORN sale gets underway.

Instead of $375, Will is being asked to earn $400 for Troop 218. This money helps us camp, buy badges, support our local District, and help community members in need via our local volunteer efforts.

There's two great ways to participate:

1. Like last year, we're selling yummy Trail's End popcorn. There are lots of new products offered online, like flavored almonds and a limited edition BSA tote. (The chocolate popcorn is still available, but is only 1/2 as coated, so it's easier on the waistline/still tastes amazing.)

A full 70% of your purchase will be returned to Will, my unit and my council.

Just click here and place an order on my behalf and it will ship directly to your home/give us credit.

NOTE: To be sure Will gets credit, please place your order between Sat., Sept. 26 through Oct. 15.

2. You could take another route and have 100% of your money go towards our local Pack: a direct donation. This is less fun than getting popcorn, but cuts out the middle man/gets Will to his goal even faster by not cutting up the popcorn sale to the middle man, etc.

If you wish, you may write a check to Pack 218 and mail it to: Master William McLain, 316 Chapel Valley Lane, Apex, NC 27502. Need to have it in hand by Oct. 20 to count towards his goal.

Either a donation or an online purchase would help us fund fun, educational activities here in NC, and help more kids experience all the things that make Scouting great.

Thanks for your support,
Tim (and William!)
