Apps Uninstall

Platform: Android

RATING:
5 out of 5

PRICE:
FREE

TASTY:
Makes uninstalling one or group of DROID applications simple, easy, and lightning-quick.

BUMMER:
Doesn’t allow you to uninstall stock or carrier-provided apps. (For some reason users want to hobble their phones in this manner and are dinging the application for this limitation.)

COOL:
Makes batch-uninstalling a breeze. (Google, it’s time to buy and integrate developer Nicky Cho’s app into the Android OS.)

REVIEW:

Even with the latest Android OS update, managing applications on your device can be a serious chore. Why all new apps aren’t automatically saved and run from the pre-installed 16G memory card is beyond me.

And why our phones aren’t programmed to give us the choice to auto-update apps when new versions are released is also a head-scratcher. Honestly, I’ve lost count of the number hours I’ve lost to sitting through batch update sessions of 10-20 apps, each taking 2-5 minutes to download and update.

Last but not least is the cumbersome application uninstalling process. Heading into Settings > Manage Applications displays a badly organized mess of sometimes strangely-named apps, each of which need to be clicked and either moved the SD card or uninstalled.
Enter Apps Uninstall.

Finally, a developer has taken the time to take away a bit of our Android cleanup chores. This free gem makes uninstalling (non-stock and non-carrier preinstalled) apps quick and easy. Your first step should be to open the Settings and change the Sort by method. I found Name Desc(ending) to be the most helpful.

Plus, the ability to batch uninstall a collection of programs is the killer feature that moves the app from 4 to 5 stars.

After a few short minutes, I’d cleaned up my phone and was able to move on with my day. A must-install utility for every app hoarder who frequents the Android Marketplace.
