Scouting Popcorn Fundraiser 2010
Will needs your support…

Greetings from North Carolina! Apologies for a brief intrusion into your blog reading today.

As Will begins his Bear year in Cub Scouts -- and will join with millions of other Scouts in 2010 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the U.S. Scout movement -- I'm reaching out to my FB friends with an invitation to participate in his growth through this program.

Times are tough, and we're being asked to shoulder a little more responsibility as our annual, once-a-year POPCORN sale gets underway here: http://bit.ly/scoutsrock

Instead of $400, Will is being asked to earn $500 for Troop 218 here in NC. This money helps us camp, buy badges, support our local District, and help community members in need via our local volunteer efforts.

There's two great ways to participate:

1. Like last year, we're selling yummy Trail's End popcorn. There are lots of new products offered online, all cooked in healthier Canola Oil, using all-natural Tapioca syrup for 'sweetness' instead of sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup, and packaged in eco-friendly bags. (The Chocolate Caramel is now like it was two years ago, so much better!)

A full 70% of your purchase will be returned to Will, my unit and my council.

Just click here and place an order on Will's behalf and it will ship directly to your home/give William credit: http://bit.ly/scoutsrock

NOTE: To be sure Will gets credit, please place your order through Oct. 20.

2. You could take another route and have 100% of your money go towards our local Pack: a direct donation. This is less fun than getting popcorn, but cuts out the middle man/gets Will to his goal even faster by not cutting up the popcorn sale to the middle man, etc.

If you wish, you may write a check to Pack 218 and mail it to: Master William McLain, 316 Chapel Valley Lane, Apex, NC 27502. Need to have it in hand by Oct. 15 to count towards his goal.

Or Paypal to timothymclain@yahoo.com.

Either a donation or an online purchase would help us fund fun, educational activities here in NC, and help more kids experience all the things that make Scouting great.

Thanks for your consideration and support,

Tim "Pack Committee Chairman" McLain (and "Bear" William)
